WHO IS BRIAN STEPHENS?
Brian is the sort of creative professional who has always lived several different lives, all at the same time.
For more than 25 years, Brian has been a full-time freelance drummer, audio engineer, studio producer, music educator, leading edge technologist, AV consultant, serial entrepreneur, multimedia content creator, and brand ambassador.
His work as a session drummer as appeared on television networks like ABC, MTV, Oxygen Network, & SoapNET while his drumming & drum/loop programming has appeared on hundreds of CD projects across every musical genre imaginable. His drumming, engineering, & production skills can also be heard on music projects and commercial jingles for clients like Verizon Wireless, The Salvation Army, Fox Sports, Warner Brothers, & 20th Century Fox.
As a live gig freelance drummer, Brian has worked with a diverse roster of artists including The Platters, The Drifters, The Coasters, The Crystals, Blueground Undergrass, Jimmy Hall (Wet Willie, Hank Williams, Jr.), and rock-fusion guitarist Mike Martin.
As a music educator and journalist, Brian has written articles for Modern Drummer magazine, DRUM! magazine, and Performer magazine. He is currently in the middle of writing his second music business book entitled, “The Musical MBA”.
Brian is a Visiting Faculty member at music/engineering schools like The Atlanta Institute of Music & Media and SAE Atlanta. Brian has also traveled as an Artist Endorser / Clinician for companies like Paiste cymbals, Promark drumsticks, Evans drumheads, and D’Addario/Planet Waves cables.
For almost 10 years, he was the Lead A-1/FoH Mix Engineer and AV Co-ordinator at Peachtree Road United Methodist Church in Atlanta, Georgia and has mixed Front of House sound in other churches, theaters, and concert venues around the country.
When not on the road, Brian can be found tracking drums, engineering & producing music projects, and mixing & mastering all sorts of client projects at his own studio: Secret Cove Studios in Atlanta, Georgia.
Brian currently runs his own online drum school, The Drum Corner, and teaches privately from his home studio. He is also the host of two podcasts: Dial-A-Drummer, a podcast for drummers, and Fader Jocks, a podcast specifically for anyone involved in the worlds of audio recording and live sound.
